Someone finally said it, thank you!
Though Google is very important, the holistic marketing approach Matt emphasizes will no doubt mean the difference between success and failure. Laying employees off is never a good thing, especially if it is a direct result of the company’s lack of forward strategy.
The right tactic at the right time is a big part of diversification. Striking an area of marketing while it is hot can lead to superb results. Make sure time is spent on worthy tasks rather than shooting in the dark. This means doing a lot of research, always testing and constantly analyzing results.
Here is a brief list of my favorite marketing strategies, aside from SEO, that have proven successful:
- Informative Videos
You’ve heard of YouTube right? Use it to your advantage.
- Feed Optimization
Data feeds are growing in popularity; get yours out there.
- Blogging
Get involved in the blogosphere. Especially if you’ve got something interesting to say.
- Site Usability
This is definitely part of marketing. Work on converting the visitors you have.
- Email Marketing
People love a good deal, but don’t be a sp@mmer. Relevancy and value are key.
