Custom Error Page for Wordpress
Posted on April 14th, 2008 under Web Site Development
So I was bored around 4am and decided to build out a custom error page for my blog…
Here is the script I used for the typing effect.
If you want a custom 404 error page on your Wordpress blog, simply edit the 404.php page in your theme.
Typically found here:
wp-content/themes/(your active theme)/404.php
Here are some funny 404 pages that inspired me:
404 Error Pages: Reloaded - Smashing Magazine
17 brilliant 404 pages and why they are cool - Royal Pingdom

Let’s not forget 404 pages can be a money maker in addition to providing URL error information for your visitors.
How? By including advertisment for affiliate links, or your own links for that matter.
Thanks for listening.

Wow, that’s really good and creative. How long did it take you to make?

@JBourne Thanks! About a half hour to find the right image and typing effect script, then another half hour coding and styling it.
