When my wife, daughter and I moved to our new home in Manchester, MO we were excited to know that recycling is a big part of the community. Within the first six months we were given a very large bin with wheels to place all our unsorted recyclables in. So through-out part of 2008 and all of 2009, before placing an item in the trash we conditioned ourselves to first think if it could be recycled. It even turned into a game. If we didn’t know, we’d bet on whether it would make it into the recycle bin or not.

In 2010, we’re going to take living greener to the next level. Here is a short list of our strategy for living greener in 2010:

1. Start a small garden, just tomatoes and green beans for now.
2. Pay more bills online.
3. Start a compost pile.
4. Plan meals for each day of the week and only grocery shop for those items.
5. Go to the grocery store once a week.
6. Install recycling receptacle in home office.
7. Install compact florescent light-bulbs.
8. Turn off and unplug electronics that aren’t being used.

Christmas is awesome. First of all, you get to spend time with the people you love. Secondly, you can get drunk and no one can say anything. Third, you give presents. What’s better than giving presents? Or fourth, getting presents. So four things, not bad for one day. It’s really the greatest day of all time.

During my lunch break, I went to my jeweler to pick up the ring. The entire purchasing experience was flawless. Greg at Novak Jewelers was attentive, creative, and helpful. He designed and created the ring that I knew Jen would love. Being the social media addict that I am, I decided to review Novak Jewelers on the review site, Yelp. While writing the review, my colleague Reem Abeidoh asked me what I was sharing on Yelp. After informing her about my intentions, she simply asked, “Are you crazy?”

For those who are wondering why Reem questioned my sanity, the answer is pretty simple. The Yelp review I was in the process of authoring would have appeared on my Facebook page. Guess who my friend is on Facebook? Jen…

A young Irishman sat at a pub in the New World drinking beer and conversin’ with the barkeep. Another comes in and sits besides him.

He says how you do and hears the lilt and says you be Irish? Yes I am. The first man yells barkeep, give us another round and one for my friend here he’s from the mother country as well.

The second man asks, so where in the old country ye from. Dublin responds the first. Dublin you say – so am I and the second man hollers barkeep bring us another round and a shot of your best Irish whiskey for me and my friend here.

Afterwards the first man asks from where in Dublin and the second man responds with the street and the first man says well I’ll be – so am I and yells barkeep another pair of beers and Irish Whiskey for the pair of us.

The phone behind the bar rings and the barkeep answers it. The owner of the pub asks – how is business. The barkeep responds – not too bad – The O’Malley twins are here getting drunk again.

An Irish man walks into a pub. The bartender asks him, “What’ll you have?”

The man says, “Give me three pints of Guinness please.”

So the bartender brings him three pints and the man proceeds to alternately sip one, then the other, then the third until they’re gone. He then orders three more.

The bartender says, “Sir, I know you like them cold. You don’t have to order three at a time. I can keep an eye on it and when you get low I’ll bring you a fresh cold one.”

The man says, “You don’t understand. I have two brothers, one in Australia and one in the States. We made a vow to each other that every Saturday night we’d still drink together. So right now, my brothers have three Guinness Stouts too, and we’re drinking together.

The bartender thought that was a wonderful tradition.

Every week the man came in and ordered three beers. Then one week he came in and ordered only two. He drank them and then ordered two more.

The bartender said to him, “I know what your tradition is, and I’d just like to say that I’m sorry that one of your brothers died.”

The man said, “Oh, me brothers are fine, I just quit drinking.”

Two men were scuffling outside a pub when along came a huge Irishman – fists like hams – who started taking his coat off.

‘You’re fighting about Ireland, aren’t you?’ he demanded.

‘No, no,’ said both men in unison. ‘Honestly, it’s a personal matter, nothing to do with Ireland at all.’

‘Huh,’ muttered the Paddy, and shuffled off. Two seconds later he was back, tearing off his coat saying:

‘So Ireland’s not worth fighting about, eh?’
